About Us & the Venue
Gigi’s Cafe is a locally owned, family-run business that also aims to be an event venue in Victoria BC! We are community-minded and love to support local people and businesses–including by hosting events that spotlight local musicians, authors & more.
We are licensed, carrying local beers and cider, and have a small capacity of 25 (including employees).
Currently we host live musicians on Saturdays from 2 to 4pm. Solo performers and bands are welcome!
We are open to all genres that can be played at a reasonable volume level, so our regular operations can continue (don’t worry–we refrain from using the espresso grinder until each song is over!)
We provide the sound equipment and advertising on our social media, and the musician can collect tips from the audience and sell merchandise.
Vancouver Island-based musicians are welcome to contact us by email and include the following information:
- What your performing experience is (no need to have had your own private show before–performing in open mics or at “variety show” type gigs can be sufficient)
- A video of you performing in public
- A link to any social media you use for your music (not required but helpful!)
- A little blurb about your music (the type of thing you’d read on an Upcoming Events page like ours :))
- Any Saturdays you are available for in the next two months (at least 2 weeks away from the date of the email)
- Any questions you have for us
We also are interested in hosting other events that are suitable for a daytime coffee shop environment–poetry and writer’s open mics, author readings, etc.

After Hours Events
As we are a daytime operation closing at 4 or 4:30 each day, we don’t have a built-in audience for evening events! With this in mind, we currently charge fees to rent out our space after we are closed. The fees are flexible in that they will be reduced or waived depending on our food & drink sales during the event. We are a community-minded business–which essentially means this: we love our community and we want to be able to make ends meet so we can stick around!

Please note that we’re mostly reserving night time events for acts and event types that we’re confident will be a success for everyone, as hosting evening events does stretch our small team of staff and owners a little thin!
We provide branded advertising for events (we’ll make the poster and post content on our social media) and a staff member will be available to be of assistance before, during, and after the event.
We have a separate fee of $37 per hour (for a minimum of two hours) for a basic private rental of our space. One staff will be on site during your event (unless you require more), which means we have a capacity for 24 attendees. You are able to pre-order snacks and light meal options (sandwiches and soup) as well.
